Russia-Ukraine Tensions Escalate: Trump Holds Calls with Putin and Zelensky; Ukraine Strikes Russian Energy Targets, 11 Killed in Moscow's Retaliatory Attack

According to CNBC, over the past 72 hours, several major developments emerged in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. U.S. President Trump held separate calls with Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky, while Ukraine launched drone strikes on Russian energy and military installations, and Russia responded with large-scale missile and drone attacks on Kyiv.

Kremlin spokesman said Trump and Putin spoke for approximately 90 minutes, discussing ways to end the conflict and prospects for future Russia-U.S. cooperation. Trump emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict quickly to unlock bilateral cooperation potential. Zelensky stated he discussed front-line conditions with Trump and agreed to continue talks at the upcoming NATO summit, saying there is a "real opportunity to end this war" and that American commitment is crucial.

Ukraine struck a major oil terminal in St. Petersburg and the Kronstadt naval base, home to the Russian Baltic Fleet, causing fires at the facilities. In response, Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Kyiv early Monday, killing at least 11 people and causing severe damage to residential buildings.
