Global payment giant Stripe's foray into the cryptocurrency space has once again attracted industry attention. The company recently adopted a "recruitment-style acquisition" approach, bringing the core team of the well-known mobile crypto wallet Valora under its wing to accelerate the development of its stablecoin business. The Valora wallet application itself and its intellectual property will return to its birthplace, the Celo development studio cLabs. This acquisition is a key step for Stripe in building a "stablecoin full lifecycle service" landscape, following its October 2024 $1.1 billion acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge and its earlier acquisition of crypto wallet company Privy this year, marking a deepening involvement of traditional financial technology giants in the crypto domain.
