Ark is a Bitcoin Layer 2 payments network, aiming to deliver a more simplified user experience while retaining self-custody. Unlike the Lightning Network, users don’t need to manage payment channels or inbound/outbound liquidity to make payments. Users also don’t need to set up their own nodes, only requiring a light wallet on a smartphone to start sending and receiving self-custodial Ark payments, according to the team.
