Jack Dorsey's Block generated nearly 2 billion dollars in Bitcoin revenue in Q3.
Block, the company led by Jack Dorsey, reported revenue of 6.11 billion USD in Q3, with Bitcoin contributing nearly 2 billion USD, accounting for almost 1/3 of total revenue. The net profit reached 461.5 million USD, an increase of 64% year-over-year. However, the results fell short of analyst forecasts of ( 6.34 billion USD in revenue, EPS 0.63 USD ).
Revenue from Bitcoin decreased compared to last year by 2.4 billion USD but remains the second largest source of income. Block currently holds 8,780 BTC worth over 1 billion USD and recorded a valuation loss of 59 million USD in the quarter.
The company continues to expand its Bitcoin ecosystem with a merchant wallet and new BTC payment tools. Despite the stock falling more than 11% after the report, experts still appreciate Dorsey's long-term strategy to promote Bitcoin as a currency for daily payments.
