Base – the Ethereum Layer 2 network incubated by Coinbase – has officially launched a bridge to Solana, according to a Thursday announcement. This integration is powered by Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).
In a blog post, Base wrote: “If we want to bring the world on-chain, we must make transferring assets at internet speed, exploring cross-chain applications, and unlocking value anywhere as simple as possible. This is a big step toward the goal of making Base the center of the ‘everything’ economy: every asset, on every network, at any time – and Solana is just the starting point.”
According to the development team, the new bridge will help:
Launched in August 2023, Base is built on the Optimism tech stack, aiming for a secure, low-cost, and developer-friendly network model. According to data, Base has quickly become the most active L2 ecosystem in terms of profitability and the number of blobs.
In addition to supporting Solana’s SPL tokens in Base applications, the bridge also allows users and developers to transfer assets from Base to Solana. “Users can trade and use cross-chain assets in applications that have integrated the bridge, regardless of whether they are on Base or Solana,” the team stated.
Chainlink CCIP is currently one of the most popular cross-chain interoperability standards, supporting both token transfers and data transmission across multiple blockchains.
Base stated that the bridge to Solana uses a “custom cross-chain oracle,” with nodes from Coinbase and Chainlink independently verifying every message—ensuring that asset transactions between Base and Solana are safe and reliable.
Jesse Pollak – founder of Base – hinted at Solana integration as early as August 2025. At the Basecamp event in September, he reiterated the multichain direction and said the team is considering launching a native token in the future.
