U.S. and Iran Approaching One-Page Memorandum to End Conflict, Response Expected Within 48 Hours

According to AXIOS, on May 6, U.S. and Iranian officials said the two sides were approaching an agreement on a one-page memorandum to end the conflict. The U.S. expects Iran to respond to several key issues within 48 hours. No agreement has been reached yet, but sources said this is the closest the two sides have come to a deal since the conflict began. The proposed memorandum would include Iran’s commitment to halt nuclear enrichment activities, U.S. agreement to lift sanctions and release billions in frozen Iranian funds, and mutual removal of restrictions on Hormuz Strait transit.
