Satoshi Nakamoto's Wallet Revealed: Arkham Discovers 1.1 Million Bitcoins
Blockchain Analytics Platform Arkham Intelligence has revealed on its website data about the suspected addresses of Bitcoin’s creator. The research shows that Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet holds 1,096,354 BTC, which at the current price of $68,430 per BTC is approximately $750 billion. This makes Satoshi Nakamoto’s hypothetical fortune one of the largest cryptocurrency holdings in history. The data is based on a scientific method developed in 2013 by researcher Sergio Demian Lerner.
How Arkham Identified Bitcoin Creator’s Wallets Through Mining Pattern Analysis
Arkham Intelligence used a technique known as the Patoshi Pattern to identify addresses belonging to Bitcoin’s creator. This approach is based on analyzing unique patterns in blocks mined during the early stages of the network—when mining was conducted by only a few enthusiasts.
On Tuesday, the platform announced the integration of 22,000 addresses associated with Satoshi Nakamoto into its organizational database. The company clarified: “These addresses are derived from the known Patoshi mining pattern and include the only documented addresses from which Satoshi sent BTC.” The methodology allows tracking coin movements from late 2008 to mid-2010, when the Bitcoin creator effectively ceased activity in the network.
Satoshi Among the Top 15 Richest People on the Planet
The total balance of the identified addresses amounts to 5.22% of all existing bitcoins worldwide. According to Arkham, Satoshi Nakamoto’s holdings are valued at $750 billion at current BTC market prices. To put this in perspective: this positions the Bitcoin creator at 14th place among the world’s wealthiest individuals, ahead of Michael Dell, Bill Gates, and Michael Bloomberg.
Notably, the last recorded transaction from one of Satoshi’s wallets occurred in July 2010—almost 16 years ago—when Bitcoin’s price was extremely low, measured in cents. This long silence fuels speculation: either Satoshi lost access to the keys, or is following an unlimited accumulation strategy.
Rare Transactions of the Creator: Nakamoto’s Transaction History
Arkham’s data reveal interesting details about the movement of funds. Satoshi made only 13 transactions between January 2009 and July 2010. The most well-known is the sending of 10 BTC to developer Hal Finney, who later became a pioneer in home computer mining.
Two other transactions sent bitcoins to another early developer, Mike Hearn. A third large transaction shows the transfer of 500 BTC to an unsigned address, whose purpose remains a mystery. These rare operations contrast with the practices of modern large holders, who often transfer assets between addresses.
Although some cryptographic theories suggest Satoshi may control additional wallets or periodically move coins through mixing services, no one has yet proven or identified the true identity of Bitcoin’s creator. Arkham Intelligence remains one of the few platforms that systematizes and provides public access to this data.
