Xinjiang: Due to wind-blown snow and low visibility, two-way traffic control is implemented on multiple routes

On March 2nd, the Emergency Command and Networked Toll Collection Center of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Department of Transportation issued multiple traffic alerts due to weather disasters such as blowing snow:

  • Sections of S201 at K23-K76 (Mayitas) and S317 at K0-K29 (Tori Old Wind Gap to Wuxing Toll Station) are affected by blowing snow, making the roads unsafe for travel. Two-way traffic control is in effect, with an expected recovery time of March 3rd at 12:00 PM.
  • The Kuita Expressway (Keta section) of G3015 from K306 to K362 (Emin Toll Station to Tacheng Toll Station) is affected by blowing snow and low visibility, making safe passage impossible. Two-way traffic control is in place, with an expected recovery time of March 3rd at 3:00 PM.
  • The section of G219 within Yumin County, Tacheng area, from K787 to K912 (Aketikeqi to Hejiao Keda Bridge), is affected by blowing snow and low visibility, making safe travel impossible. Two-way traffic control is implemented, with an expected recovery time of March 3rd at 6:00 PM.

Xinjiang issues a yellow warning for road icing.
At 3:40 PM on March 2, 2026, the Xinjiang Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow alert for road icing:
Snow is expected tonight through tomorrow night in the Ili Valley, northern Tacheng area, Altay area, Kizilsu Mountains, and northern Bayingolin Mountains, leading to wet and icy roads that may impact traffic safety. Meteorological authorities advise relevant departments to strengthen preventive measures.
