Peru's President presides over new cabinet swearing-in ceremony; former Economy Minister Mirales appointed as Prime Minister

On February 24th, local time, Peruvian President José Balcázar presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet at the presidential palace. In this cabinet reshuffle, former Minister of Economy Dennis Mirales officially took over as President of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister). With Mirales’s promotion, the Minister of Economy and Finance was succeeded by economist Geraldo López González. Former Director of the National Civil Defense Agency Luis Arroyo Sánchez was appointed as the new Minister of Defense; former Lima Police Chief and National Police General Hugo Bediola was sworn in as the new Minister of the Interior.
