ChainCatcher News, Aave founder Stani Kulechov posted a message calling for reform of DAO governance models. He pointed out that the current DAO operation is extremely difficult, with decision-making slowed by forum discussions, sentiment checks, and multiple rounds of voting. At the same time, DAOs tend to become politicized, with participants forming political alliances, ultimately leading to “politicians” rather than builders to win.

Kulechov advocates that governance should focus on areas that truly require collective participation, such as major protocol changes and treasury strategies. The rest should fall under the execution layer, driven by leaders. He stated that Aave needs to stay agile and streamline governance processes to seize opportunities in the global lending market. Recently, the Aave community experienced governance turmoil, as core contributors BGD Labs and ACI withdrew from the protocol following conflicts with Aave Labs. The two sides also have disagreements over the “Aave Will Win” proposal put forward by Aave Labs.
