I just found out that in Querétaro, the fine for not verifying your car is pretty expensive this 2026. If you don’t get the verification done on time, you could be fined more than 1,700 pesos. It all depends on how many periods you let pass, but it’s a serious matter.
Apparently, since February, the costs have increased because they updated the value of the UMA. It’s now 117.31 pesos, so fines for late verification range from about 704 pesos up to nearly 1,760, depending on the case. And the worst part is that if you let more periods pass, the penalty keeps increasing.
What surprised me is that, in addition to the fine for doing the verification late, if your car doesn’t pass the test at the verification center, they charge you another roughly 125 pesos. So basically, you need to do the process on time and make sure your vehicle meets the standards.
If you have a private car, work with transportation, or bought a new or used one, you’re required to verify. You need to bring the current circulation card, official ID, and if it’s a new car, the invoice and plates. Nothing complicated, but you have to stay up to date because the fine for not verifying in Querétaro is really no joke. Has anyone else just realized this?
