Just realized a lot of people still don't know how to properly update their SASSA banking details, especially if you're getting the R350 grant. Let me break this down because it's actually pretty important to get it right.

So here's the thing - if you're on a permanent grant (old age, disability, child support), you can't just change your bank account online. You actually have to go to your nearest SASSA office in person. Yeah, I know, inconvenient. Bring your original ID and a copy, plus proof of your new bank account - that's a bank statement from the last three months or a letter from your bank. Make sure the account is in YOUR name only, no joint accounts or anything like that. They'll give you a form to fill out, process it, and then it takes up to 21 days for the bank to verify everything. Pro tip: submit the change before the 15th of the month if you want it to take effect next month.

Now, if you're on the SRD R350 grant, it's different - way easier actually. You can do it all online through the official SASSA SRD portal. Just enter your ID number, and they'll send you an SMS link to verify. Click it, enter your new bank details, and you're done. Takes a few days to a couple weeks for verification, but at least you don't have to leave your house.

Phone number changes work similarly. For permanent grants, call the helpline (0800 60 10 11) or just visit an office. For R350, use the online portal - enter your ID and Application ID, put in your new number, they send you an OTP to verify, and that's it.

One more thing though - be careful with unofficial websites claiming to help you change your details. Stick to the official SASSA portal to keep your info safe. Trust me, you don't want your grant getting messed up because of a scam site.
