I noticed an interesting news — XRP Ledger now has native support for ZK proofs through integration with Boundless. This is not just a technical update, but a significant step for the ecosystem.
The thing is, XRPL has always positioned itself as a platform for institutional finance, but it had one critical problem: full transparency. All transactions, treasury strategies, relationships with counterparties — everything is visible in the open ledger. This creates competitive risks and compliance issues. Even Ripple itself couldn't fully utilize its own DEX for payments due to these limitations.
Boundless, a zero-knowledge proof network, solves this problem. Now, institutional clients can conduct operations on XRPL with complete confidentiality — from stablecoin payments to DeFi flows. Boundless's VP of Engineering explained that ZK proofs enable sanctions checks and other compliance requirements without revealing data. No third-party trust needed, full control over what is visible.
The context is interesting. In February, Ripple announced major XRPL updates, expanding functionality beyond payments. In November, they tested settlements with the RLUSD stablecoin together with Mastercard and WebBank. Simultaneously, interest in real asset tokenization is growing — Argentine company YPF Luz launched a platform with over $800 million in the ledger.
This reflects a broader industry trend. ZK technologies have ceased to be experimental and have become the core infrastructure for the next level of institutional DeFi. At the Ethereum DevConnect conference, ZK tools were the dominant topic, and Boundless was highlighted specifically for its work on cross-chain operations based on proofs.
Honestly, this is one of those moments when crypto infrastructure becomes truly useful for serious players. XRPL has attracted over $550 million in ecosystem funding, with users including SBI Holdings, Guggenheim, and other heavyweights. With added privacy via ZK, use cases expand exponentially. If you're interested in tracking the development of such solutions, you can monitor activity in the XRPL ecosystem and related projects on Gate.
