Wu Shuo learned that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) submitted an amicus brief to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, arguing that it has exclusive regulatory authority over commodity derivatives markets, including prediction markets (event contracts), and claiming that the Commodity Exchange Act takes precedence over state laws. The CFTC pointed out that some states are engaging in "illegal enforcement actions" against its regulation of exchanges and have obtained temporary restraining orders in states like Arizona.
