The UK reaches a new agreement with France to spend over 600 million pounds on anti-people smuggling measures

The UK and France have reached a new three-year agreement. Under the deal, the UK will provide France with up to £660 million (about €760 million) in funding to stop illegal migrants from crossing the English Channel by small boat to enter the UK.

According to reports from the BBC and Agence France-Presse on the 22nd, under the agreement the UK will provide about £500 million (€570 million) so that France can step up efforts to tackle illegal migrant boat crossings along the northern coast of France. France has pledged to deploy 1,400 law enforcement and intelligence personnel to tackle illegal immigration smuggling by 2029, with the personnel increase exceeding 50%.(Xinhua News Agency)
