Recently, I’ve been bouncing back and forth between the mainnet and Layer 2, to put it simply: I want to save on gas fees but don’t want to make it look like I’m playing a game. The mainnet transactions are indeed solid, and yes, they are really expensive; but many small transactions on the mainnet feel like I’m sending red envelopes to miners (or now called validators). The Layer 2 experience is smoother, but once I start crossing back and forth, with a bunch of wallet prompts, even I, being stubborn, hesitate for a second.
My current compromise is quite timid: for daily small transactions and trying out new protocols, I first drop them on Layer 2; if I need to hold long-term or involve large transfers, I’ll go back to the mainnet once, and fewer times makes the mindset easier. Recently, I heard that some regions are planning to add taxes and tighten compliance, making deposits and withdrawals more like opening blind boxes… Anyway, I don’t really want to tinker frequently, less movement means fewer mistakes, and I shout “TVL is dropping” when it falls, and “gas fees on-chain are rising” when they go up.
