Palestine holds local elections covering parts of Gaza

On the 25th in local time, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip will hold their first local elections in about twenty years. Meanwhile, in the West Bank region, voters will also cast their ballots for the first time since the outbreak of the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict in October 2023. According to the election details released by the Palestinian side, it is expected that the West Bank will elect local councils responsible for managing matters such as water supply, roads, and electricity, while the elections in the Gaza Strip have been referred to by Palestinian officials as a “pilot.” The Associated Press described it as “more symbolic.” (China Central Television News)
