Recently, I saw a bunch of people claiming that AI Agents on the blockchain can "automatically handle everything," and honestly, hearing that makes me a bit uneasy... Automated order placement, automatic rebalancing—those are impressive, but when it comes to on-chain interactions, someone still needs to take responsibility.
A few practical pitfalls: How much to approve and to whom; what exactly is being signed in that signature; and cross-chain bridges—once stuck, it's stuck. Agents will just keep retrying, ultimately treating slippage and fees as air. Then there's contract upgrades, parameter changes, governance votes—if no one monitors, it's easy to get carried away by "default settings."
I prefer to do as little as possible—let the Agent handle "reminders + simulations + error reporting," but I still make the final confirmation myself. Narratives can be exaggerated, but when it comes to security, you have to pay attention to the details. Otherwise, the small profits earned aren't worth the risk of a mis-authorization that could cost you everything.
