Guangzhou's regional GDP grew by 6% year-on-year in the first quarter of this year.
Reporters learned at the press conference held on the morning of the 23rd about Guangzhou’s economic performance in the first quarter that, based on the unified accounting results released by Guangdong Province, in the first quarter Guangzhou’s entire city achieved a gross domestic product (GDP) of 7988.88 billion yuan. Calculated at constant prices, this represented a year-on-year growth of 6%, with the growth rate 2 percentage points higher than that of the whole of last year.
Ye Shanhu, director of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics, said at the meeting that in the first quarter, Guangzhou’s economic performance across the city rebounded and showed positive momentum and a strong start. Among this, the added value of the primary industry increased by 4.2% year-on-year, the added value of the secondary industry increased by 5.8%, and the added value of the tertiary industry increased by 6.1%.
