Japan, the United States, and South Korea cooperate to enhance cybersecurity and AI.
On September 22 in New York, the foreign ministers of Japan, America, and South Korea met to discuss cybersecurity, economic security, and artificial intelligence, focusing on countering North Korea's cryptocurrency theft. Officials emphasized that the Lazarus hacker group had stolen billions of USD in 2025 through DeFi, smart contracts vulnerabilities, phishing, and supply chain attacks, creating financial resources for Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.
The three countries agreed to strengthen cooperation against cyber attacks, enhance the supply chain of critical minerals, and promote research and common standards on AI. At the same time, they reaffirmed the goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and preventing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
Each country also implements its own measures: America sanctions wallets and coin mixing services, South Korea tightens AML and trains professionals, Japan supervises exchanges and shares intelligence with allies.
