Brazil's Digital Bank Banco Inter has completed an international commercial financial trial based on blockchain, in collaboration with Chainlink, the Central Bank of Brazil, and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). This project is part of Phase 2 of Brazil's CBDC Drex program, simulating the export payment process between the Drex network and Hong Kong's Ensemble platform.
Chainlink provides cross-chain interaction infrastructure, enabling two systems to connect and process cross-border transactions. Banco Inter stated that the testing platform allows for tokenized payments and automatic transfer of ownership through smart contracts, helping to reduce costs, limit risks, and increase access to international markets for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Standard Chartered Bank also participates in this pilot program.
