Claude Code adds /btw sidechain conversation feature, allowing questions without interrupting the task

Gate News: On March 11, developer Lydia Hallie announced that Claude now supports a new feature for quick questions within the current session. Users can ask the AI questions without interrupting their main task. This feature is implemented through the new command /btw, introduced by developer Thariq. Users can enable side-chain conversations to ask temporary questions while Claude is performing a task. This mode is read-only, does not invoke tools, and does not write to the main conversation history; once the window is closed, the related responses will automatically disappear.
