Coinfello and Metamask Launch Openclaw Skill to Secure AI Wallet Access

Coinfello has launched its open-source Openclaw skill, designed to facilitate secure interactions between AI agents and Ethereum Virtual Machine smart contracts, in partnership with Metamask.

Delegated Permissions and ERC-4337 Integration

Coinfello, an artificial intelligence (AI) agent designed for direct interaction with Ethereum Virtual Machine ( EVM) smart contracts, has released its open-source Openclaw skill in partnership with Metamask. The launch introduces a new framework for connecting AI agents with crypto wallets while ensuring users maintain custody of their private keys.

According to a news release, the Openclaw skill enables Moltbots to securely execute on-chain transactions through delegated smart wallet permissions. By leveraging ERC-4337 smart accounts and ERC-7710 delegations via Metamask’s smart accounts kit, users can grant agents like Coinfello narrowly defined permissions to act on their behalf. This represents a significant advancement over existing models, where agents often store private keys or API credentials in plain text.

Coinfello’s design follows the principle of least privilege. When a user submits a natural-language request, Coinfello converts it into a delegated transaction, validates it in an evaluation layer, and executes only the required action. This ensures no agent receives broader wallet access than necessary.

“The Coinfello skill introduces hardware-isolated keys and fine-grained delegations, giving AI agents a secure way to execute transactions while helping bootstrap on-chain capabilities for the broader agent ecosystem,” said Brett Cleary, CTO at Coinfello.

Rapid Ecosystem Growth

The release comes amid the rapid growth of the Openclaw ecosystem. In the past two months, its GitHub repository has surpassed 150,000 stars and 22,000 forks, while npm downloads exceeded 416,000 in the last 30 days.

Until now, many AI agent wallets have exposed sensitive secrets within runtime environments. Some newer designs attempted to mitigate risks with centralized trusted execution environments (TEEs), but these still relied on external infrastructure. Coinfello’s approach keeps signing keys on the user’s device while tasks are executed through fine-grained delegations, eliminating the need for direct private key access.

With the Coinfello skill, Moltbots can perform a wide range of blockchain actions through natural-language prompts, including token swaps, cross-network bridging, staking and portfolio rebalancing. The skill is built on the agent skills specification, is compatible with Openclaw environments and Claude Code, and is released under the MIT license, allowing developers to freely deploy and extend it.

Looking ahead, Coinfello plans to expand its permissions framework and deepen integrations with Metamask’s smart accounts kit, enabling more advanced portfolio management and multi-agent collaboration.
