Gate News reports that on March 28, Google is about to reach an agreement to provide over $5 billion in funding for the data center project being developed by Nexus Data Centers in Texas, USA. Once completed, the project will be leased to Anthropic. The project covers approximately 2,800 acres and is expected to provide around 500 megawatts of computing power by the end of 2026 at the earliest, with plans for further expansion. The data center will rely on natural gas pipelines and will be powered by its own gas turbines to reduce dependence on the public power grid. Google has previously provided TPU computing power support to Anthropic through Google Cloud, and this financing is seen as a further extension of their cooperation.
