On March 29, according to data from Arkham Intelligence, the largest single Bitcoin holder in the world at the beginning of 2026 is still Satoshi Nakamoto, holding approximately 1.096 million BTC, while major exchanges, ETF issuers, governments, and publicly listed companies follow closely behind.

On the exchange front, a wallet controlled by a certain CEX holds about 982,000 BTC, representing roughly 5% of the total circulating supply of Bitcoin; another CEX holds about 655,000 BTC, representing about 3.3% of that wallet’s total supply.

On the institutional side, BlackRock leads among all ETF issuers, with its spot Bitcoin ETF holding 775,000 BTC; Fidelity Custody holds 460,000 BTC, and Grayscale, Bitwise, and ARK Invest also hold large on-chain positions.

On the government front, the U.S. government manages 328,000 BTC across multiple wallets; the U.K. controls 61,245 BTC; El Salvador holds about 7,500 BTC; and Bhutan holds about 5,400 BTC.

Among publicly listed companies, Strategy reports that it holds 738,000 BTC; mining firm MARA says its treasury Bitcoin amounts to 53,200 BTC; and Metaplanet holds 35,100 BTC.

In addition, Tether holds 96,300 on-chain-verified BTC; SpaceX holds about 8,300 BTC; and Block.one says it has about 164,000 BTC.
