The scheme utilized the computing resources of his former employer to mine ETH, resulting in a loss of over $45,000. From December 2020 to May 2021, Armbrust accessed the Amazon Web Services (AWS) account of his former employer, Digital River, without permission and used its resources for unauthorized cryptocurrency mining.
