CZ warns that fake images are manipulating crypto market sentiment. How can users avoid new scam traps?

CZ issues a warning, stating that multiple fake images have appeared online, used by malicious actors to create panic and carry out scams. He pointed out that some accounts use false photos to deliberately create the illusion of a close relationship with CZ, misleading investors into making incorrect judgments about certain projects or tokens. CZ gave an example of an account with over 860,000 followers that posted a photo seemingly taken at a BNB Chain event, showing him in a photo with him and claiming to have met him in person. However, upon verification, he found that the image was clearly edited, with the background from a real event banner in Korea, while the people in the photo had been replaced and spliced. CZ also discovered that the clothing colors in the photo did not match any of his, and he has never taken a selfie on stage like that.

India tightens crypto regulations: Strengthening KYC to curb money laundering and terrorist financing risks

India is further strengthening its regulation of the cryptocurrency industry. According to disclosures from the Indian Press Trust, the Indian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) issued updated guidelines on January 8, 2026, requiring all cryptocurrency platforms operating locally to implement stricter identity verification and compliance checks, with a focus on combating money laundering and terrorist financing activities. The new regulations require platforms to introduce real-time selfie verification during user registration. Users must prove their real identity through dynamic actions such as blinking, while the system must simultaneously record geographic location, date, time, and IP address to prevent identity forgery and cross-border abuse. In addition to the Permanent Account Number (PAN), platforms are also required to collect official documents such as passports, driver's licenses, Aadhaar cards, or voter IDs, and verify mobile numbers and email addresses through one-time passwords.

Odaily Planet Daily news: X platform fintech blogger @oostmarcel revealed that Revolut, the largest financial app in Europe with 65 million users, has launched "Street Mode," which is considered one of the smartest security upgrades in fintech this year. It is reported that due to the surge in mobile phone thefts in Europe and the escalation of criminal methods—where robbers force victims to complete selfie verification before fleeing, a trend known as "transfer robbery"—Revolut's solution is "context-aware security." This feature allows users to set "trusted locations" (such as home, office, hotel), and outside these areas, transfers exceeding a set limit will trigger extra selfie verification and a 1-hour delay restriction. This 1 hour is a critical window during which users or anti-fraud teams can freeze the funds in time. In comparison, traditional banks' security measures are static, while Revo
