"Ukraine’s Future Security Framework Under Discussion"

At the Alaska summit, Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and European leaders explored a new security framework for Ukraine. The proposal aims to provide NATO-style guarantees without placing foreign troops on Ukrainian soil. Instead, European nations would take the lead role, with the U.S. acting as a supporting partner.

The idea is to avoid the mistakes of past agreements like the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which failed to protect Ukraine despite assurances. This time, the focus is on creating binding commitments that would reassure Kyiv and deter further Russian aggression.

While no final deal has been reached, the discussions highlight a shift in responsibility toward Europe, signaling that Washington wants allies to carry more of the weight in Ukraine’s defense.

Markets and analysts are watching closely. A credible agreement could bring stability, but uncertainty remains until the guarantees are formalized and tested in practice.
