The Filecoin ecosystem is about to do big things.

On November 19th, something called Filecoin Onchain Cloud (abbreviated as FOC) will officially launch. The name might sound a bit abstract, but its positioning is quite bold - the world's first decentralized cloud that can both verify and program.

What does it actually do? In simple terms, it moves traditional cloud services like cloud storage, cloud computing, data retrieval, and permission management onto the blockchain. It also claims to be verifiable and programmable, which theoretically can make data and computing processes more transparent and controllable.

If this infrastructure can truly run for Web3 and AI applications, it would indeed be quite a breakthrough. After all, many decentralized projects still rely on traditional cloud service providers at their core, which is somewhat awkward.

If FOC can deliver on its promises this time, the on-chain cloud computing track may really become lively. Let's wait and see.
