[Block Rhythm] Sony Bank is going to issue coin?

Reports suggest that Sony's banking operations will launch a US dollar-pegged stablecoin in the United States as early as next year. This is not baseless; Sony Group has a clear plan - to circulate this stablecoin within its own gaming and anime ecosystem, allowing users to directly use it for purchasing skins and watching anime.

Traditional big companies entering the stablecoin market is quite interesting. Sony holds strong IPs like PlayStation and Aniplex, and if they can really smooth out the payment process, they might carve out a new path for Web3 applications. Of course, fiscal year 2026 is still a bit far off; whether it can be implemented, how regulation will be handled, and whether users will accept it remain to be seen.

Sony's move, to put it bluntly, is still about keeping users firmly locked in its ecosystem and making a profit from the price difference.

2026 is still a long way off, but Sony's move is indeed fierce, directly using IP to create a payment closed loop.

Sony's recent move is pretty good, but the question is, will users really use it? I've played with quite a few skin coins, but in the end, I still return to fiat.

If Sony really plays it this way, PS players will be thrilled. --- Wait, can it pass the regulatory hurdle? It feels a bit uncertain. --- 2026 is still a long way off, and by then it will be another story. --- Directly settling game skins with stablecoins sounds good, but it feels like it will be very complicated in practice. --- Sony's move is quite deep, a combo of games and anime. --- Trust me bro, big companies issuing coins always paint the best picture. --- If it really lands, it's indeed a new approach, but the premise is that it has to pass legal scrutiny. --- Paying for anime with stablecoins? Just thinking about it feels very Web3.
