Don't remind me again today

Recently, a new Ethereum Layer 2 network focused on DeFi has emerged in the industry, emphasizing the word "fast."

This Layer 2 solution follows an optimistic rollup approach - in simple terms, it processes transactions off-chain first and then periodically sends the packaged data to the Ethereum mainnet. This method allows the mainnet to breathe while also benefiting from the security of ETH, achieving two goals at once.

The development team comes from a well-known DEX laboratory, and the technical foundation is based on the OP Stack architecture, making it a new member of the Optimism Superchain ecosystem. The performance data is quite impressive: when the network starts, the block generation speed is set at 1 second, and later, a cutting-edge technology called Flashblocks will be launched, which is said to compress transaction confirmations to around 200 milliseconds—this speed can basically catch up with centralized exchanges.

In simple terms, this thing aims to solve the major issues faced by DeFi users: high gas fees and slow transactions. Currently, doing airdrops on-chain can easily incur dozens of dollars in fees, making small transactions practically unplayable. If this Layer 2 network can indeed reduce costs and delays, it will be quite attractive for cross-chain DeFi operations.

However, to put it another way, the Layer 2 track is currently extremely competitive, and whether it can break through depends on ecosystem development and actual performance. No matter how impressive the technical parameters are, in the end, it still relies on users and funding to speak.

Another second layer? Do you really think we haven't seen it before? Blowing about 200 milliseconds every day, in the end, it still becomes useless.

Another OP Stack trap, how long can it hold up this time?

Another follower of the OP Stack, boasting about 1-second block times every day; when it truly goes live on the Mainnet, it will be another gamble.

200 milliseconds is indeed tempting, but I have heard this promise too many times. In the end, it still depends on whether the TVL can increase, otherwise, no matter how fast the network is, it will be an empty shell.
