Don't remind me again today

Ever wonder why passing down your brokerage accounts to kids living abroad gets so messy? Turns out, U.S. firms have tons of rules that make overseas inheritance a real headache. Elder law expert Harry Margolis breaks down how these regulations trip up families trying to transfer wealth across borders. If you've got relatives outside the States, this complexity hits different—especially when you're thinking about long-term asset planning. The friction between domestic brokerage policies and international beneficiaries creates unexpected roadblocks most people never see coming.

The inheritance of cross-border assets is indeed an invisible trap, as the compliance costs of American brokerages are directly transferred to families. From the perspective of investment return cycles, these issues will significantly pump the efficiency of asset allocation.

Ngl, cross-border inheritance is really a trap; the rules of American brokers are absurdly numerous... --- Is it really this complicated for Americans to transfer money? No wonder so many people choose crypto, haha. --- Wait, so if my dad opened an account in the U.S., I still have to go through this process to inherit it from abroad? That's ridiculous. --- This is why you need to consult a lawyer in advance... Otherwise, you can only stare in disbelief. --- Cross-border asset inheritance is always hell mode, just the compliance aspect is enough to cause trouble.

Cross-border inheritance is really something else, the rules of American brokers can drive people crazy. Why is it so hard for Americans to transfer their money out... It's already 2024, and they're still stuck on this, ridiculous. That's why I don't dare to let relatives help me trade US stocks, it's too absurd. It seems like many people have fallen into this trap, no wonder they all secretly use other methods.
