Today I want to talk to everyone about some major developments in the Internet Computer over the past few months and the direction it is heading.
Recently, I have been mentioning the concept of "Internet Computer 2.0". What does it mean? Simply put, it allows ordinary people to create applications through AI conversations without the need to write code. At the same time, we are also strengthening mainstream cloud service capabilities.
But the changes don't stop there. DFINITY itself is upgrading to 2.0, and more profitable projects will emerge in the ecosystem, with the token economic model optimizing towards deflation.
Why do this? It has to start from the source.
Back in October 2016, I registered the DFINITY Foundation in Switzerland. At that time, the project had already been underway for a year and a half, but it really gained momentum in the six months leading up to the registration. The purpose of establishing this independent foundation was to promote the development and ecological construction of the Internet Computer.
I have always believed that the leading force of the public network should be a neutral non-profit organization—like an independent Swiss foundation. Imagine what the internet would be like today if it were Microsoft’s private property? It surely wouldn’t be as good as if it were led by neutral organizations like ICANN!
However, the reality is that with the influx of VC capital, the industry has taken a different path. Many decentralized networks are actually being led by for-profit companies...
