Can domain names be put on-chain and turned into assets? This idea is pretty interesting.
Recently, I noticed that Doma Protocol has launched their mainnet. I looked through their materials and found their approach quite unique—they’re specifically targeting the “old-school” asset of domain names. To be honest, domain name trading has long been mature in the traditional internet world, but connecting it with blockchain? That’s definitely a tough nut to crack.
The core of their approach is integrating the traditional DNS domain name system with on-chain assets. Simply put, it allows your domain name to be more than just a website identifier—it can circulate, be traded, or even used as collateral on-chain, just like an NFT or token. This transforms domain names that used to sit idle in registrar accounts into true RWA (real-world assets) that can generate financial value.
Keep in mind, the global domain name market is huge, but it’s always lacked a reliable on-chain solution. With Doma’s mainnet launch, they’ve added a new player to the RWA space—after all, nobody expected that even domain names could be played with like this.

Tokenizing domain names is indeed novel, but can they really become liquid?

The idea of tokenizing domains is truly brilliant; it essentially revitalizes dormant assets.

I really didn't expect domain names to be put on-chain, but who actually cares about those old domain names anyway?
