Securitize poaches former PayPal executive to prepare for Nasdaq listing, valued at $1.25 billion

[Chain News] Big moves are happening again in the asset tokenization space. Securitize has just hired Jerome Roche, the former head of PayPal’s digital asset legal department, directly appointing him as Chief Legal Officer.

The timing of this appointment is quite interesting—Securitize is preparing to go public on Nasdaq via a SPAC deal with Cantor Fitzgerald, targeting a valuation of $1.25 billion, with the ticker symbol SECZ. What’s even more interesting is that they also plan to tokenize their own equity.

Some people may not be too familiar with Securitize, so here’s something you definitely know: BlackRock’s on-chain Treasury fund BUIDL was issued by them. So this company really does play a crucial bridging role between traditional finance and the on-chain world.

Roche himself said that the focus of his career has been “at the intersection of compliance, regulation, and technological innovation.” It seems Securitize is putting a lot of effort into the legal and compliance aspects of this IPO.
