Hyperliquid(Hyperliquid) has integrated the stablecoin USDC into its proprietary trading engine, Hypercore, and its smart contract layer, HyperEVM.
This move is interpreted as a strategy to reduce reliance on the existing Arbitrum-based bridge and to lay the groundwork for native USDC minting in the future.
Hyperliquid stated, “There is no immediate change in how users interact,” adding that deposits and withdrawals are still possible through the Arbitrum bridge and HyperEVM.
For Hypercore, direct USDC deposits are now available from blockchains that support Circle’s(Circle) cross-chain transfer protocol.
The development team cautioned, “There are still many details to be ironed out,” and warned that “transfers from Hypercore to HyperEVM may fail if there is insufficient balance within HyperEVM.” Circle co-founder Jeremy Allaire(Jeremy Allaire) welcomed the update, calling it “a beneficial integration for both users and builders.”
