Polymarket recently added a trending event, quite interesting.
The incident started with a video that went viral on social media.
The person who filmed the video visited several daycare centers in person and found that many appeared to be almost no one operating there, with few children inside, some even eerily quiet. However, these daycare centers were exposed for having previously taken over a million, or even several million dollars, from government child subsidy programs.
Once the video was released, public opinion exploded. Many people's first reaction was: Isn't this just a scam where they hang a daycare sign to cheat the government out of money?
As a result, the blame quickly shifted to the state government, questioning whether the subsidy review process was essentially meaningless and how the funds were actually approved.
Of course, some people poured cold water on the situation. After all, these details mainly come from independent media investigations, capturing only a specific moment in time. You can't just label it as fraud because "there was no one when I visited."
Currently, the authorities have responded that they will re-examine the relevant subsidy programs, and law enforcement and auditing agencies have begun to get involved. Whether this is an isolated issue or a systemic loophole still depends on the investigation results.
