## Openness vs Traditionalism: Why Crypto Industry Leaders Criticize the Bitcoin Community
The discussion about culture and innovation in the cryptocurrency space is gaining momentum. The founder of the private blockchain Zcash recently proposed a kind of diagnosis for the problems of the world's leading coin: when organizational culture stops adapting to changes, no technical advantage can save the project from stagnation.
This aphorism is a classic management principle used by Wilcox to describe the fundamental divergence between the development of Zcash and Bitcoin. In his view, the Bitcoin community has transformed into one hostile to experimentation and new ideas. In contrast, Zcash aims to remain a platform with a high capacity for evolution and discussion of alternative approaches.
"We try to maintain openness as a fundamental property. Perhaps it will be possible to design a system so that even a minority of developers who see prospects for improvement can promote these ideas, even when the majority refrains from changes," explained the founder.
## Case of Protection Against Quantum Threats
The impetus for such reflections was recent conflict within the technical community. Aleo's leader presented a solution to prevent potential quantum attacks on the Bitcoin network. However, his initiative was met with criticism from an influential Bitcoin advocate, who characterized the development as unwise and dubious. This representative of the "traditional wing" believes that such proposals will scare off serious developers and create an atmosphere of hostility.
It is precisely because of this closed community, as critics see it, that Bitcoin will not be able to adequately respond to real threats, including the development of quantum computing, regardless of its current market position and technical characteristics.
At the same time, strategic analysts point out that Bitcoin developers will ultimately adopt the necessary protective measures, viewing this process as inevitable despite potential delays due to the decentralized nature of the network.
