There is no society that is impartial to the matter and not to the person. Everything is biased against the person, not the matter. Think carefully: if I have a good relationship with you, I can give you some leeway; if I have feelings for you, I won't make things difficult for you. This applies to love, interpersonal relationships, and all kinds of connections. As long as you consider my feelings, I will consider yours. The rules of operation in this society are actually so simple that it's infuriating.
