Argentina officially withdraws from the World Health Organization

Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Cernó confirmed on the 17th that this South American country is withdrawing from the World Health Organization. Cernó said on social media that on that day, the decision for Argentina to formally leave the WHO had already taken effect. Cernó stated that Argentina will continue to promote international health cooperation through bilateral agreements and regional mechanisms, and will safeguard its right to make autonomous decisions on health policy. On March 17, 2025, the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs notified the Secretary-General of the United Nations and submitted this decision in accordance with the Constitution of the World Health Organization.
