On April 8th, according to Decrypt, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) expressed clear opposition on Tuesday to Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm's latest request to dismiss criminal charges, stating that the Supreme Court's recent ruling is unrelated to this case and should not serve as a reason to dismiss.

Storm's attorney previously filed a motion with the court, intending to cite a recent Supreme Court decision (involving a civil case related to copyright infringement) to support the dismissal request. However, the U.S. prosecutors, in a letter to the federal judge, pointed out that the ruling dealt with a completely different situation and industry from the current criminal charges, and therefore should not influence the case's handling.

This legal battle reflects the conflicting stance of the Trump administration regarding the crypto sector: on one hand, the U.S. government shows a relatively supportive policy tendency toward cryptocurrencies, but on the other hand, it still insists on pursuing criminal charges against certain crypto project developers. Based on the current situation, Storm may still face a retrial, and the case is expected to return to court for further proceedings.
