CryptoWorld News reports that OpenAI has identified a security issue involving a third-party developer library called Axios, which is part of a broader industry incident. The company states that there is no evidence that OpenAI user data has been accessed, that its systems have been compromised, or that software has been tampered with. Out of an abundance of caution, OpenAI is taking measures to protect the process that authenticates its macOS applications as legitimate OpenAI apps. The company is updating its security certification, which requires all macOS users to update their OpenAI applications to the latest version. OpenAI says this will help prevent any attempts (even if unlikely) to distribute fake applications impersonating OpenAI.
