Recently, the more I look at it, the more I think Tether Gold is interesting, and it might even be underestimated.
It's not the kind of asset that skyrockets at first glance, but the more I ponder it, the more stable it seems, and the more stable it is, the more room there is for growth.
Think about it, the market is often emotional—one moment all in on Bitcoin, the next panicking and selling off.
But the gold line has never truly failed.
XAUT essentially just moves gold onto the blockchain; this logic is actually very simple but also very solid.
Sometimes I feel that stablecoins, like USDT, are indeed stable, but the problem is they don’t appreciate in value.
Once funds want to “hedge risk but also not be content just to sit idle,” they start looking for alternatives.
At this point, XAUT’s position becomes very delicate—it’s not purely a safe haven; it’s a “safe haven that might slowly appreciate.”
And recently, in this macro environment, honestly, who isn’t feeling anxious?
Inflation, interest rates, various uncertainties piling up—funds will eventually move to safer places.
The problem is, people are now used to on-chain operations, and it’s unlikely they’ll really go buy gold bars to keep at home.
The most natural path is actually through forms like XAUT.
Another detail I’ve always thought is quite key: its pace is very “slow.”
Slow enough that many people lose patience, but because it’s slow, it doesn’t drain future potential like those hot coins that get overhyped in one wave.
Instead, it’s more like quietly accumulating.
Of course, it’s not without issues—trust in Tether, liquidity, and other familiar concerns do exist.
But sometimes the market is like this—assets that aren’t perfect don’t necessarily rise, but “relatively more reasonable” assets are gradually discovered.
It’s a bit like those assets you didn’t pay much attention to at first, but the more you look at them, the more they grow on you.
When everyone suddenly starts talking about “on-chain gold,” it might no longer be at this price.
Anyway, my current feeling is:
It might not be the most exciting, but it could be quite resilient.
It might not be the fastest, but it could last longer.
