It's past 2 a.m., and I was staring at the ETH candlestick chart, my hands trembling.
A short position of 30 ETH, opened at 2220, now at 2306, with an unrealized loss directly hitting -2590U, a return rate of -388.96%.
At the same time, I opened 30 long positions as a hedge, opened at 2307, now with an unrealized loss of -30U, basically giving it away for free.
With 100x leverage, full margin, going all-in, I was betting on tonight's Trump speech being bearish, but the market just gave me a harsh lesson.
Actually, I should have realized long ago:
There are no "sure-win" news in the crypto world.
What you think is "bad news coming to land" is just a scythe reaping in front of capital.
The direction you heavily bet on, the market always uses the harshest way to press you to the ground and grind you down.
This wave of rise directly pushed my margin ratio on the short position to 33%. Just a little more increase, and it would be liquidation, a margin call, a complete wipeout—back to square one overnight.
All I can do now is watch the market, pray for a pullback, or painfully cut losses and exit.
I'm not posting this to complain, but to warn all friends like me who hold heavy short positions, bet on news, and leverage:
• Never bet on the market direction based on "news"; the market is always right, and you are always wrong.
• 100x leverage is both paradise and hell; one mistake can swallow all your profits.
• Hedging isn't foolproof; when the trend emerges, any counter-position is just giving away money.
• Never go all-in; always leave a backup, keep some principal, and leave yourself a chance to turn things around.
I'm still holding my position, still betting that tonight's speech might give me an opportunity to escape.
But I've prepared for the worst: liquidation, accepting losses, starting over.
That's how the crypto world is—you never know what color the next candlestick will be.
All you can do is respect the market, control your position size, and manage your own hands.
Hopefully, tonight, we can all come out alive. $ETH
