I just found out that the recent national strike by university teachers was quite intense. The teachers went on strike for five consecutive days in mid-March, and almost all national universities closed. No classes, no services at the university hospitals, everything halted.

What surprised me is that the complaint has been ongoing for a while. The unions say they lost 51% of their salary between 2024 and 2025 due to inflation, and the government does not fully acknowledge that loss. They are requesting the implementation of the university funding law that already exists, but it seems it is not being enforced. The increase offered is only 12% in three installments until 2026, which the unions consider insufficient.

From AGD-UBA they were clear: they will not return to the classrooms until the owed salary difference is paid. And what's interesting is that the national teachers' strike was not only from teachers; non-teaching staff also joined. Some unions threatened to extend the measure if there is no response from the government. Quite a tense situation overall.
