I recently discovered that IG can actually be switched back to a personal account pretty easily, and it’s a lifesaver for anyone who previously created a creator account but later felt they didn’t need it. I was the same—I opened a business account thinking I could view analytics and run ads, but after using it for a while I realized I basically don’t need it, so I wanted to switch the account back to a simple mode.
The most troublesome part is that after switching back, it defaults to a public account, meaning anyone can see your content. But luckily IG has thought of that too, so after you change the account type, you can go straight into privacy settings to set the account to not public. That way, only people you approve can see your posts and stories. The whole process isn’t complicated at all—you just find the option for account type in the settings, choose to switch back to a personal account, and then go to privacy settings to enable the not public mode, and you’re done.
To be honest, switching my IG back to a personal account actually feels more comfortable to me. With all those analytics and ad tool distractions gone, sharing life feels a lot lighter. And once you switch to a private account, you don’t have to worry about strangers browsing freely, and it feels like the whole account is back to how it was in the beginning. Do any of you also want to do this?
