Start with eml(x,y)=exp(x)-ln(y). Nest this function with different values of x and y (including previous calculated quantities using this function) and you get all the functions you find in a scientific calculator.


Some functions like x^y (a power law) requires many nesting but it is not a big deal for a computer to do that.
