Strengthen Cash Reserves, Tether Moves $70.5 Million Worth of Bitcoin to Reserve Wallet

Tether officially transferred 951 Bitcoin worth approximately $70.5 million to a reserve wallet connected to its treasury operations on April 15, 2026. Citing Bloomberg and on-chain data from Arkham Intelligence, this move is part of the company’s policy of allocating 15% of its net profits for regular Bitcoin purchases to strengthen the asset collateral behind the USDT stablecoin.
With this latest addition, Tether’s total Bitcoin holdings now amount to roughly 97,141 BTC, solidifying its position as one of the private entities with the largest Bitcoin reserves globally. This strategy consistently draws liquidity from exchanges into long-term storage, while also tightening the link between the growth in USDT transaction volume and market demand for Bitcoin supply.
Although Bitcoin is an important part of its reserve strategy, Tether emphasizes that the majority of assets backing USDT are still dominated by Surat Utang Negara AS (U.S. Treasury securities). However, the routine addition of Bitcoin provides strategic price exposure for the company’s reserve portfolio, while still maintaining the stability of the dollar exchange rate as its primary obligation.
