In 1990, Carina Lau was kidnapped and missing for three hours, then she returned in a dazed state and said: Only a thousand yuan in cash and a watch were stolen.

The next day, Tony Leung couldn't help but ask: Are you telling the truth, did they really bully you?

Carina Lau at that time just shook her head, her eyes avoiding a direct look at Tony Leung.
She knew in her heart that those three hours were far more than just a robbery, but she chose to keep the truth hidden deep inside.
Things started from even earlier.
In the late 1980s, Hong Kong's film scene was lively, and gang forces also set their sights on this lucrative market.
Many underworld figures invested in making movies, hoping to boost box office with stars.
Carina Lau was then at her peak, and a big brother wanted her to take a role, but she directly refused.
A few days later, she received threatening phone calls, the other side saying, "You see me, I see you," scaring her so much that she dared not close her eyes while washing her hair.

In the dead of night in April 1990, Carina Lau finished filming and received a call from Eric Tsang inviting her to play mahjong at his house.
She drove over, but halfway she noticed a car following her.
She sped up trying to shake it off, but near Eric Tsang's house, she hit a barrier and the car stalled.
Several shadows rushed out, dragging her into another vehicle.
During those three hours, she was threatened and photos were taken of her.
Later, she returned home and only told Tony Leung about the robbery.
Tony Leung didn't press further, just held her tightly as she trembled.

After that, Carina Lau was forced to go to the Netherlands to film a movie for free, called "The Big Fight," along with Andy Lau and Wan Ziliang.
According to insiders later, Andy Lau was taken there with a gun pointed at his head.
The producer of the film was Cai Ziming, who had previously been Jet Li's manager, with a complicated background.
Cai Ziming was shot and killed in 1992, and his company went bankrupt.
Carina Lau later mentioned these events in an interview with Lin Yanni, saying she had offended someone at the time, and this was how she was punished.
Tony Leung secretly investigated who the mastermind was, but the other side was powerful, and he couldn't make it public.

Carina Lau tried to forget those days while filming.
Her relationship with Tony Leung began during the 1988 stage play "The Heartbreaker," and they officially started dating in 1989.
But their path was full of ups and downs.
From 2000 to 2001, they broke up and got back together several times, and Tony Leung moved out of their shared house multiple times.
It wasn't until 2003 that they moved back to their home in Happy Valley, and their relationship gradually stabilized.
There were also various rumors, saying Tony Leung was too immersed in his acting and got close to Maggie Cheung, but neither responded publicly.
Later, Carina Lau said that her father suddenly passed away in 2006, which made her realize many things.
She didn't want to have regrets, so she decided to stay with Tony Leung.

In January 1992, a large protest erupted in Hong Kong's entertainment industry.
On January 8, that year, just after the film "All's Well, Ends Well" was finished, the footage was stolen by armed men.
Although the main film was unharmed, the entire circle was shaken.
On January 15, over 300 people including Jackie Chan, Eric Tsang, Chen Xinjian, Tsui Hark, Chow Yun-fat, and Stephen Chow took to the streets to protest against gangster infiltration into the entertainment industry.
Jackie Chan said during the protest that gangsters shoot movies without rules, demand protection money, and force actors.
Chen Xinjian, a former police officer, criticized the police with a megaphone for not doing anything.
Chow Yun-fat also said that bottles were thrown from high places because people hadn't paid up.
Later, Zhang Jianzheng recalled that nine out of ten top actors had been threatened.
Andy Lau's housekeeper's residence was burned down, and Tsui Hark's studio was hit with Molotov cocktails—these incidents kept happening one after another.

After the protest, the gangs didn't back off; instead, they retaliated more fiercely.
Jackie Chan was issued a kill order and had to temporarily hide in the U.S., and his company was also shot at.
On December 12, 1993, the Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild was established, with Xu Guanwen as the first president and Anita Mui as vice president.
The guild was created to unite artists against threats.
At that time, Carina Lau was still processing her own issues and didn't participate directly in the 1992 protest, but she felt the atmosphere in the industry.
Ten years later, in 2002, "East Weekly" published old photos, causing a sensation across Hong Kong.
Artists once again dressed in black and took to the streets, led by Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung, and Chow Kam-wah, holding banners that defied heaven and earth.
Carina Lau walked at the front, supported by Tony Leung, and took off her sunglasses, saying she was stronger than she thought.
Eventually, "East Weekly" ceased publication, and those responsible were punished.

Over the years, Carina Lau gradually moved on.
She continued acting, investing, and living with her own rhythm.
Tony Leung always stayed by her side, silent, but supporting her with actions.
On July 21, 2008, the two finally held their wedding at Uma Paro Hotel in Bhutan.
The wedding was planned by Wong Kar-wai, with Carina Lau handling all the details herself, and Tony Leung just appearing.
Guests included Faye Wong, Li Yapeng, Lin Qingxia, and Zhang Zhen, among others.
The King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar, also came to send blessings.
They first wore traditional Bhutanese clothing, completed Buddhist rituals amid chanting monks, and later Carina Lau changed into a white wedding dress.
Faye Wong sang a song, and it rained lightly—called "flower rain" by the Bhutanese, a good omen.
The wedding cost a lot, but most importantly, the two ended nearly twenty years of a long chase.

Before the wedding, Carina Lau talked with Lin Yanni again about 1990, and she didn't shed tears, appearing very open-minded.
After marriage, their life was peaceful, and they were occasionally photographed showing affection.
Later, Carina Lau won the Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards, and her life became more flamboyant.
She forgave those past events—not by forgetting, but by no longer letting the past hold her back.
Tony Leung remained the same—quiet, but always holding her tightly at key moments.
