Project Eleven Awards 1 BTC Prize for 15-Bit Quantum Key Break

Project Eleven awarded a 1 BTC Q-Day Prize to Giancarlo Lelli for deriving a private key from a public key with a 15-bit elliptic curve test on a quantum computer. The test was far smaller than the 256-bit standard used by Bitcoin and most blockchains. Critics said the method relied heavily on classical verification rather than purely quantum computation. The result does not create immediate risk for Bitcoin.
